Most Sydney bathrooms we renovate fall between $18,000 and $35,000, depending on size, layout and finishes. Smaller refresh jobs can be closer to $15,000, and high-end or complex layouts can push into the $35k–$50k range. Every home is different, but here's what usually affects the final price:

  • Bathroom size and layout changes
    Moving plumbing, drains, or walls adds labour and certification costs.

  • Tiles and waterproofing
    Large-format and natural stone tiles take longer to install. All bathrooms must meet Australian Standards for waterproofing.

  • Fixtures and fittings
    A simple back-to-wall toilet costs far less than an in-wall system. Tapware choices make a big difference, too.

  • Condition of the existing bathroom
    Older homes often have hidden water damage or out-of-level floors that need to be corrected before new work goes in.

If you want a fixed price, we can usually give you a clear written quote after a short site visit or sometimes a video call if reception and quality permits.

A standard bathroom renovation in Sydney normally takes 3 to 4 weeks from demolition to handover. Bigger bathrooms, complex layouts or homes with older plumbing can push it closer to 5 weeks, but most projects we complete fall inside that 3–4 week window.

Here's what the timeline usually looks like on a typical Sydney job:

Week 1 – Demolition, plumbing rough-in and electrical rough-in
We strip out the old bathroom, prep the structure, adjust plumbing and electrical to suit the new layout.

Week 2 – Waterproofing, screeding and inspection (if your building requires it)
We waterproof to Australian Standards, build the new floor screed and take moisture readings before moving ahead.

Week 3 – Tiling and grouting
Wall and floor tiling, niches, feature tile sections and finishing trims. If the bathroom is small, we can often complete most of this inside the week.

Week 4 – Fit-off, painting and final detailing
Shower screen, vanity, toilet, tapware, mirrors, accessories and lighting go in. We silicone, final-paint, and clean down the room, ready for handover.

Handover – Final checks and walkthrough
We test all plumbing and electrical systems, check ventilation, and provide all licences, waterproofing documents, and finishing notes.

You'll get a clear, written schedule before we start, so you know exactly what's happening each week and who'll be on-site.

Most Sydney homes don't need council approval for a bathroom renovation unless you're removing structural walls, changing the room's size, or altering the main sewer line.

Strata apartments are different. Bathrooms can absolutely be renovated, but strata usually requires a few things to keep the building protected and neighbours informed. In most Sydney strata buildings, you will need:

Waterproofing certificates
Strata entity/ owners corporation wants proof that the bathroom is waterproofed to Australian Standards (AS 3740). We supply this at the end of every job.

Licensing and insurance details
Your strata manager will ask for our building licence, insurance, and, sometimes, SafeWork documentation before work begins.

Formal approval for the renovation
You'll typically submit a renovation request or minor works application, showing the scope of work, drawings (if needed), and the trades involved.

Access permission through common areas
Most buildings require you to book lift padding, delivery times and access routes for materials and demolition waste. We help coordinate this.

Booked noisy-work hours
Strata usually restricts demolition and the use of loud tools to set hours, typically mid-morning to mid-afternoon on weekdays.
